Cucumber vs. Box Turtle

My brother, Charlie, noticed that something seemed to be eating his cucumbers before he could pick them. He then caught this Box Turtle (Terrapene carolina) in the act. As you can see, the turtle refused to put up any defense at first and retreated into its shell. On further questioning, the turtle claimed self-defense. “The cucumber attacked me”, the turtle said. “Under the circumstances,  I felt justified in ‘standing my ground’  because I feared for my life!”
